    Advantages of a Strut Assembly:

*No Spring Compressor Needed – By including a coil spring, no spring compressor is needed to complete the repair. Easy bolt-on installation makes this a simple repair for auto technicians and DIYers alike.
*Convenience – With everything needed for the job in a single unit, using a strut assembly means you don’t have to source other parts.
*All New Parts – Since a strut assembly includes all new components, you don’t have to worry about the coil spring or any other part wearing out before your new strut does.
*Fast & Easy Repair – Quicker and easier to install, a strut assembly takes the hassle out of removing the old strut and installing the new part. For those in areas where rust is a concern, you don’t have to worry about a coil spring or other part being difficult to remove because of rust and corrosion.
*Increased Productivity – For technicians, installing a loaded assembly means they can move on to the next repair in no time.
*Saves Money in the Long Run – While the upfront price of a strut assembly is higher than a bare strut, a strut assembly typically takes less labor to install. In the end, the price difference may be negligible.
*Restores Performance – Installing a strut assembly restores the vehicle to factory ride height which helps improve steering and handling capabilities.

What Is A Shock Absorber and What Does It Do?

Shock absorbers damp or reduce spring oscillations. Without a shock absorber, the springs on a car will cause it to bounce around excessively every time it hits a bump or takes a turn. A well dampened suspension system with a functional shock absorber will allow the springs to react to driving conditions but will return to the normal ride height quickly.

Inside a gas and oil shock absorber (except for air shocks, almost all shock absorbers use gas and oil construction) a valve slows the movement of the piston through the shock oil so that whether the shock is compressing or extending, the movement will be slowed down.

    A shock absorber:

    1)Stops springs from oscillating

2)Keeps tires in contact with the road

    3)Improves ride quality

    4)Improves handling

    5)Improves gas mileage

    A shock absorber doesn't:

    1)Prevent bottoming out

    2)Hold a car up

    3)Change ride height

    4)Increase load or towing capacity

Note: Replacing struts used to require specialized tools to compress, remove, and transfer the old spring and mount.  Our Pre-assembled, complete strut & spring assemblies come with all new parts and make the job much quicker and easier for the do-it-yourself mechanic.

The hazard of a broken complete strut/shock absorber:

When driving, if the shock absorber assembly of the car wears out, the car may vibrate up and down, bump back and forth, shake left and right, and the front of the car will sway. As a result, the car will deviate to the outside of the curve when the car is making a sharp turn. Trend: When the turning radius of the car is large, the sense of direction is inaccurate, and the car has a tendency to sway; when the car passes on a bad road, the steering wheel can clearly perceive the front suspension vibration significantly increased; when the road is convex, the driver and passengers can feel dull The impact noise; the beating of the wheels when accelerating, resulting in slow acceleration and other problems.

How to check if the shock absorber is damaged:

    1. Oil leakage: Check the shock absorber through the wheel arch with a flashlight. When oil leakage is found outside the shock absorber, it indicates that the shock absorber has been damaged.
    1.  Abnormal noise: If the shock absorber makes an abnormal noise when the vehicle is driving on a bumpy road section, it is most likely that the shock absorber has been damaged.
    2.  Uneven tire wear: When the shock absorber is broken, the wheel will vibrate unevenly during driving. This will cause the wheels to tilt, which will cause serious wear on the part of the tire that touches the ground, while the untouched tires will not be affected, resulting in uneven wear over time.
    3.  Press the bumper firmly and then release it. If the car jumps 2 or 3 times, it means that the shock absorber is working well. If you keep nodding your head up and down and bow your waist, it will be broken if it looks very elastic.

    How to Change:

    Installation Steps:

    • First step

    1. Remove the tire, and place the removed tire on the ground steadily, with the outside side facing up, and put the tire screw on the tool c art
    2. Gradually remove the connecting rod screws, brake hose screws, and brake ABS cable. After removing the screws, arrange them and place them on the tool cart (Note: Be careful not to damage the oil pipe and ABS cable)
    3. Remove the half shaft nut and remove the automatic system. (Note: Fix the calipers reasonably and do not damage the tubing)
    4. Remove the direction lever (note: use a special tool to remove the ball head
    5. Remove the vehicle height sensor (note: remove carefully, do not damage)
    6. Remove the ball head of the lower control arm
    7. Remove the upper connecting bolts, and take out the shock absorber assembly and steering knuckle assembly together. (Note: Two people are required to cooperate to avoid damage to related parts after replacement)

    • Second step

    1. The shock absorber assembly of the original car has been disassembled, and the new shock absorber assembly has been replaced.
    2. Take out the new shock absorber assembly and compare it with the old one before installing it.
    3. Install the new shock absorber assembly on the steering knuckle assembly
    4. Assemble the shock absorber assembly and steering knuckle assembly back to the vehicle together.

    • Third Step

    1. Restore the ABS cable, tubing, and tie rod to their original positions.
    2. Restore all the automatic systems, and carefully check the oil pipes and other lines for interference.
    3. Assemble the tire to the car (Note: carefully tighten the tire bolts)

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    • What shocks and struts do?

They keep the tires from bouncing which causes loss of road contact and they also keep the vehicle body weight from shifting and rolling which causes a loss of vehicle control and handling. You could say then, that their main job is to resist both tire and vehicle body motion. When shocks and struts are working well, the vehicle maintains traction on the road and has the optimum stability in every driving condition: stopping, turning, swerving, over bumps and potholes.

    • How do they do that?

A shock or a strut operate the same but mount differently. Each of the four tires has either a shock or strut connected to that corner’s suspension and vehicle body or frame. They are hydraulic cylinders that provide motion damping by restricting fluid flow through a series of internal valves. As the wheel and body moves up and down, the shock valving slows and stabilizes the movements.

    • How many miles do shocks and struts last?

The life of shocks and struts depend on the road conditions the vehicle drives on, the weight of the vehicle and environmental conditions.  Some vehicles; such as SUVs and Vans, are very heavy in the front and can wear out suspension components in 50,000 t0 75,000 miles. Vehicles driven in northern climates will wear out quickly due to road salt and potholes created from icy conditions.   Delivery vehicles carrying heavy loads will wear out springs and suspension components quickly.

So, mileage is not always the best way to estimate how long your shocks and struts will last.  Consider the type of vehicle, your normal road conditions, load, and towing frequency and the climate conditions.

    • When should shocks or struts need to be replaced?

Bumpy Rides The major function of shocks and struts is to prevent the amount of suspension movement, so if you experience bumpiness, it's time to change your shocks.

Steering & Braking Problems If your car have poor steering response, stiffness or noise when steering; have instability when braking; or swaying while turning, it's probably time for new struts and shocks.

Mileage Testing has shown that at around 50,000 miles, original equipment shocks and struts may be worn to the point of needing replacing.
