This is a TASCAM DA-P1 DAT Recorder. I was able to power it on using a benchtop power supply. I do not have the original power supply. It turns on, the display works and I was able to operate a few of the front panel buttons.
The tape mechanism does not appear to work nor respond to the top control buttons. I do not have a tape to test it with. You can hear a motor spinning inside but there doesn't appear to be any movement on the head, tray, capstan, idler, etc.
I have not opened it up as I am unfamiliar with DAT/compact tape machines. I would fathom it is an issue with a belt somewhere.
The rubberized coating on the machine has become sticky.
